SpinMass Cadroe Home SL Galleries

In the world of Second Life my name is Cadroe Murphy. If you're not familiar with Second Life, it's a persistent, online, 3D, collaborative virtual world whose content is created by its residents. Because Second Life is not a game with a defined goal, people approach it with diverse interests, including art, play, socializing, experimenting, commerce, romance and more. I tend to be focused on architecture and programming and view Second Life as a combination of a toy and a sandbox.

This section of my web site features some of my past and present projects in Second Life. A major focus for me has been mapping the Second Life grid. An example is Grid Chart, an interactive map application I created for Second Life. I also did some work on an 3D viewer, and there is a page about Cartifex a project to render Second Life's terrain in 3DSMax. In the gallery you can see many of the things I've made, as well as featured work by other residents.

I post updates about my mapping and other projects on the SpinMass blog.

I also make scripted building tools, some of which I sell. These include ShapeGen, which creates cylinders, cones, and spheres larger than 10 meters by rezzing and arranging prims. Cubey Terra's Aerodrome in Abbotts is a nice example of what can be done with the tool. There is also the Cadroe Lathe, which allows you to create a large smooth shape by defining the curve of its outline. It's useful for creating things like the domes of the Taj Mahal. Scope Cleaver used it when creating his beautiful Princeton Campus build. I've also released free tools that create bezier curves, giant tori, and stadium seating.

If you want to contact me you can IM Cadroe Murphy in-world or e-mail me at cadroe@spinmass.com. I'm not actually in Second Life very much these days because my current SL project is mainly an offline effort.
